Rahel Solomon Profession
Sudanese-American journalist Rahel Solomon is a general assignment correspondent for the CNBC network’s Business News. Solomon, a former morning news anchor for CBS 3 in Philadelphia, will join the CNBC network in March 2019. In 2012, Rahel worked as an intern at CNN’s Special Investigations Unit in Washington, DC. She belongs to both the Investigative Reporters and Editors organisation and the National Organization of Black Journalists.
Rahel Solomon Career
At Philadelphia’s NBC 10 WCAU-TV, Solomon worked as a production assistant before starting her reporting career. Rahel’s first opportunity came from some of her friends who worked there and were impressed with her work. She has experience as a multi-platform journalist for Charleston, West Virginia’s WSAZ-TV. Before joining the CBS3 News team in Philadelphia, she worked for two years with the Eyewitness News Team at KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado.
One of Solomon’s first assignments after coming back to Philadelphia was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Divine Loraine Hotel. Jim Donovan, Katie Fehlinger, and Meisha Johnson, who embraced her with open arms, made up her news team family, and she liked working with them all. Rahel is best known for her reporting on the 2014 Colorado floods and the 2014 Aurora theatre shooting trial of James Eagan Holmes.
She was voted Broadcast Journalist of the Year by the Colorado Association of Black Journalists in 2015. Solomon likes spicy food, especially spicy chips, and she and her co-anchor Jim Donovan did the ‘Paqui One Chip Challenge’ in 2017. In 2017, when roughly 30,000 runners competed, she ran the Philadelphia Marathon after working with a coach. Rahel enjoys travelling and has already resided while studying in a number of European nations. The Explore the World initiative allowed her to further her studies in Paris, Rome, and Salamanca.
